As a mother of two children (and grandmother of a Montessori child), both of whom started Montessori school at 18 months and graduated from a Montessori high school, Jana has walked the path of a Montessori parent, teacher, and teacher trainer for over 25 years. In addition to school consultation and parent education, Jana works with parents in their homes to create an environment that provides consistency between home and school. Montessori in the home isn't just about the physical aspects of the home, it includes the ways you communicate with and discipline children, kindly and firmly, while maintaining dignity and respect for all family members.
Jana is certified through AMS in Early Childhood and holds RIE Foundations (0-3), with a Masters in Montessori Education. She is a Positive Discipline Certified Parent Educator and has additional concentrations in brain development and gender, All Kinds of Minds with Mel Levine, and Montessori Applied to Children at Risk Level 1 (MACAR) from the Shelton School. She is a regular presenter at the AMS National Conference, local and regional conferences, and internationally. Jana is a teacher trainer for four Montessori teacher educator programs. Her articles have appeared in Montessori Life and Montessori Leadership and on Montessorium.com, Leo Magazine, and various regional publications.
