Jana's adventures in Montessori began in 1992 when she became a long term substitute before moving into an Assitant Teacher's position in an Early Childhood Classroom. She became a Lead Teacher in 1999 at a private Montessori school, which transitioned into a charter school in 2002. Jana continued working in the classroom until 2015 when she became Head of School.
Jana is also a mother of two Montessori children (both of whom started Montessori school at 18 months) and a grandmother to two children, one of whom attends Montessori school. Jana is an accomplished Montessori educator, author, teacher trainer, and Head of School. Jana is a parent consultant. She collaborates with parents in their homes to create environments that provide consistency between home and school. Jana also consults for schools, helping to find ways for educators, administrators, and families to support children of all ages.
Jana is certified through AMS in Early Childhood and holds RIE Foundations (0-3), with a Masters in Montessori Education. She is a Positive Discipline Certified Parent Educator and has additional concentrations in brain development, gender, All Kinds of Minds with Mel Levine, and Montessori Applied to Children at Risk Level 1 (MACAR) from the Shelton School. She is a regular presenter at the AMS National Conference, local and regional conferences, and internationally. Jana is a teacher trainer for four Montessori teacher educator programs. Her articles have appeared in Montessori Life and Montessori Leadership and on Montessorium.com, Leo Magazine, and various regional publications.
